Shawna’s experience is extensive and varied in public and media relations, marketing, video production and fundraising. She specializes in hit-the-ground-running promotions, organizing media campaigns and fundraising events with great success. She was awarded by Pennsylvania Senators Pat Vance and Rob Teplitz for organizing a community event that garnered extensive statewide publicity for uniting diverse populations for common causes. While fundraising, she chaired events for several nonprofits, in one case, doubling donations and attendance from the prior year.
Previously a news anchor and reporter, Shawna’s in-depth interviewing skills led to her stories being aired on international news feeds. While traveling in Honduras, her sister thought she heard a familiar voice, turned around and saw Shawna’s face on a nearby TV set to CNN.
Shawna has been a highly sought-after video producer with national and international clients in Washington DC, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Richmond, VA. Her special accomplishments include a powerful documentary “Fallen Heroes” for the City of Chesapeake’s Fire Department, the cornerstone marketing media for Langley Federal Credit Union, and the film, “Virtual,” for WVEC-TV13. Shawna also conceived of and produced the video, “Fit Kids,” which was accepted by PBS as a series and internationally distributed.
Shawna honed her public speaking skills as a member of Lewis and Clark College’s Forensics Team. She was a featured speaker for Skagit Valley College’s Career Expo, Skagit County’s Literacy Forum, Lewis & Clark College’s Gender Studies Symposium and Pyeongtaek University’s English Symposium.
Whether directing an actor’s performance or coaching a company spokesperson on-camera, Shawna understands how to grab an audience’s attention and how to effectively communicate a message. An Oregon native, Shawna lives in Portland with her husband and her red-haired dog, Maggie.
